I did approximately 57394720874 hours worth of research about what kind of camera to invest in. Save yourself hours of review-reading you’ll never get back and just get this guy.
Nothing. Nothing. Nothing is worse than running out of disc space when you’re trying to take the next Nat Geo shot. This SD card also comes with a free trial of Magisto, which is my movie making guilty pleasure.
If you’re not into lugging around an extra camera, take your smartphone camera to the next level with lens clips. These clips can be used creatively for videos and photos and are rarely identifiable between the photos taken by their bulky predecessors.
I made a misstep early on when I started my blog with 1&1. Then when I saw how UX friendly Namecheap was I quickly switched. Since then my site has been running smoothly and I have been benefitted from the many comprehensive Namecheap tutorials that explain how the internet works.
Canva for Work
Canva is a must for busy bloggers everywhere (that’s all of them). Though I love Adobe, Canva is sometimes easier and faster when all you need to do is create a Pinterest Graphic. Their business subscription is worth the fee for saving your fonts and colors in ready made templates.
Travel Booking & Apps
Hopper is the travel booking app I use to get a quick, overall glance at where I can fly on the cheap. Set up much like Google Flights, Hopper tells me when tickets are cheaper with a calendar grid, and also alerts me when my saved searches have lowered in price.
Afar is how I look less like a traveling idiot and more like a savvy local in little to no time. Their magazine and app have lead me to some of the most unique finds, from hole-in-the-wall restaurants to boutique shops.
Wanderu is the app we all forget about when we’re booking flights. Don’t discount trains and buses! Wanderu partners with bus and train companies in North America and Europe, making ground travel easy and cheap! Use their “Explore” feature to find tickets for the weekend under $10.
I’m usually not a big fan of tours as I think they disconnect you from living like a local. However, I AM a fan of travel that is educational and immersive, and that’s just what Context Travel is. I had the opportunity to attend one of their tours in London and left feeling both like a local and a Cambridge college professor.
Preparing for Long-Term Travel
Sell off your impulse buys with Poshmark. Traveling long term is all about downsizing and keeping your wardrobe small and simple. No need for that ruffled dress that only debuts on Cinco-de-Mayo. List and let go.
Get rid of useless electronics (who uses an ipod anymore?) and other electronic/digital goods with Decluttr. They take CD’s, DVD’s, old laptops and more. Use my custom code DTRF7DVP85 to get $10 the first time you sell.
Please note that some of these links are affiliates, which means if you choose to purchase them via my links I get a couple of pennies that go toward the “Wine & Cheese” fund. This, however, does not influence my recommendations – I only share the things I genuinely use and trust, sans cheese bribery.
